To address access and waiting time issues, we continue to augment the capacity of our services. During the year, we enhanced the manpower support for the Department of Accident and Emergency (A&E) through the special honorarium scheme, providing services for semi-urgent and non-urgent patients classified under the established triage system to shorten the waiting time of patients in the department. In the area of renal services, three additional patients were recruited for in-unit Haemodialysis (HD) service, strengthening the service volume with an addition of 390 sessions.
In enhancing the multi-disciplinary support for patients with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and their parents, the Department of Psychiatry collaborated with the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine as an internal therapeutic alliance in implementing a child and adolescent mental health service programme for the provision of centralized triage screening, enhanced clinical support, nursing care and collaborative trainings, etc. With the support of psychiatrists and nurses specializing in child psychiatry, mild ADHD cases were treated by the Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine Team which greatly facilitates early detection, assessment and management of target group of patients in a timely manner and enhances service accessibility and coverage.
