保持醫療設備與器材的標準，是維持優質
服務與安全工作環境的重要因素。有見及
此，病理部全面更新醫療設備，安裝條碼
式追蹤及存檔系統，確保正確辨認解剖病
理學的樣本，有助處理每年
5,500
個手術和
活組織檢查樣本，以及
4,500
個細胞學樣
本，分別應用於
12,000
個組織塊和
35,000
個載片上。在雅麗氏何妙齡那打素慈善基
金會撥款資助下，部門添置一部自動鎖蓋
機，希望減少員工因手動鎖蓋所引致的勞
損。該部門亦安裝了自動無線溫度紀錄
儀，

小時監察冷凍櫃和冰箱溫度，確保
儲存重要試劑的冷凍櫃和冰箱的溫度不會
超出警報範圍。
全因員工同心投入，本院於二零一四年
五月完成醫院認證計劃的「機構評審」，並
成功取得澳洲醫療服務標準評審機構頒發
為期四年的認證資格。在各項改善服務質
素和確保病人安全的措施中，營養護理和
管理的工作最令評審團隊留下深刻印象。
本院在病人護理和評估中加入營養篩查和
護理計劃，並聯同大埔醫院在聯網中以先
導形式推出綜合管理系統，以制訂病人的
用膳日程，確保膳食服務備有嚴謹的品質
控制。實驗室、感染控制、營養治療部、
膳食部以及護士團隊之間緊密合作，推行
多項營養護理質素計劃。團隊為營養護理
質素計劃制定穩健的管治架構和具效率的
政策，使本院和大埔醫院就該認證項目更
被評定為「優異級別」。醫院認證計劃的
經驗證明，機構認證評審能有助我們辨識
Ensure Service Quality and Safety
Upkeeping the standard of medical facilities and equipment is an
important factor in maintaining a high quality of service and a safe
working environment. In this regard, there has been a significant
improvement in the modernization of medical facilities in the
Department of Pathology. The installation of Barcode-based Tracking
and Archiving System ensures correct identification of anatomical
pathology specimen, benefiting 5,500 surgical and biopsy specimens
and 4,500 cytology specimens per year with their 12,000 tissue blocks
and 35,000 slides. With the funding from AHNCF, the department
had acquired an automated recapping machine to minimize fatigue
and injuries of staff from manual recapping works. The department
also managed to install automatic wireless temperature loggers as
a 24 hour monitoring on temperature out-of-range alerts for deep
freezers and refrigerators for critical reagents.
With the dedication and concerted efforts of the staff members,
AHNH completed OWS for the Hospital Accreditation Programme
in May 2014, and received full accreditation status of the
Australian Council on Healthcare Standards for four years. Among
the wide spectrum of initiatives to improve service quality and
sustain patient safety, works on nutritional care and management
were particularly impressive to the surveying team. There are
nutrition screening and care plan incorporated in patient care
and assessment. The Integrated Management System, piloted
by AHNH and TPH in the cluster to map out the patient meal
journey, enables a stringent quality control on food services. The
many nutrition care quality programmes demonstrate the close
collaboration across various departments, including laboratory,
infection control, catering, dietetic and nursing teams. Since the
robust governance structure and effective policy on nutritional
care are in place, AHNH and TPH have been awarded with
Extensive Achievement (EA) on this criterion. Experience of hospital
